Drilling and Completions, both as functions and as parts of a process, play critical roles at the interfaces between the Exploration, Development and Production phases of the asset lifecycle. It's what transforms reserves into a saleable commodity, and a facility into a producing asset. Each stage within the D&C process, and each hand-off between functions as production is brought online, must be carefully planned, coordinated, managed and executed with as little waste and variation as possible.
Achieving excellence in D&C means taking a holistic, end-to-end view of the entire well delivery value stream, from exploration through to first production. It means looking at overall lead times, delivery cycle times, EH&S performance, planning and scheduling (especially of rigs), contractor management, cost management and process hand-offs. It means continually improving drilling operations from the work package stage to the point where "target depth" (TD) is reached. It means ensuring a seamless process from the completions side of a stable, producing well to production operations. Lastly, and most importantly, it means applying the highest standards and best practices to ensure EH&S performance across the value chain.
