Operational Excellence Summit Creates Positive Impact on Calgary’s Oil and Gas Community

Achieving Predictable, Repeatable, Sustainable Performance

Calgary, AB June 11, 2014 – Evolve Partners, a global implementation-focused consulting firm that helps energy and process industry clients implement strategic business improvement programs, sponsored the Operational Excellence in Oil and Gas Summit, held for the first time in Calgary, Alberta on June 3 and 4. This conference brought together continuous improvement professionals from across the region to interact and explore what leading oil and gas companies are doing to build a culture of sustained improvement – and better position themselves for growth.

The conference was well attended and was designed with learning and sharing practices in mind. Most sessions began with a panel discussion comprised of industry leaders, followed by facilitated roundtable discussion groups. These sessions were augmented with success stories that illustrated how a successful OE program can improve production and safety, save millions in operating costs as well as enhance business agility, drive innovation, and help attract and develop world-class talent.

John Norcross, VP of Canada for Evolve Partners, moderated a session entitled “Building an Integrated Business Excellence Framework”. The session began with John’s perspective on Operational Excellence and was supported with a case study presented by Mike Bonine from Devon Energy, where he discussed Devon Canada’s journey to Operational Excellence. His presentation was followed by an interactive discussion, facilitated by Peggy Smart from Imperial Oil, on how to find the best blend of continuous improvement methodologies and tools for your organization. The groups came away with a better understanding of the critical importance of OE in creating and sustaining a successful Oil and Gas organization.

“Evolve was so pleased to be part of the first Operational Excellence in Oil and Gas Summit held in Calgary,” says Seth Tyler, COO of Evolve Partners. “We enjoyed connecting with so many of our clients and gaining new perspectives from other companies. Operational Excellence is more than a set of tools and processes. It’s a new way of working.”

Evolve also hosted an interactive experience in their exposition booth that challenged participants’ thinking on continuous improvement and problem solving skills. Attendees competed against others in an exercise designed to help expand their understanding of how different interventions, at different times, deliver repeatable, predictable and sustainable performance.

Evolve has offices in Calgary, Alberta and Houston, Texas.
